After finding out his mother has cancer, a young man struggling as a comedy writer in NYC moves back home to the suburbs of Sacramento to be there for he as her illness takes hold. Hilarity ensues.
Holy crap, does this thing get heavy. Thank the good lord, it’s also funny as hell. Makes for some pretty stark transitions from one scene to the next, but it all comes together in ways that’ll really stick with you. Boasts some great performances, too. More Jesse Plemmons and Molly Shannon, please.
It’s got an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
