A timid boy who gets picked on all the time befriends the new girl who just moved into his apartment complex. Girl instills some confidence in said boy and teaches him how to stand up for himself. Girl turns out to be a vampire. Boy loves her anyway. Best friends forever.
The rare American remake that actually stands on its own against the original. Even if you’ve seen and dig the (arguably) superior Let the Right One In, this little ditty totally does it justice and then some. Not only does it make for a fantastic, bloody horror movie, but it’s a totally genuine, affecting coming-of-ager about young love to boot. Those two things don’t usually go together, so highly recommend giving this one a go.
It’s got an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.
