A cheery young man moves to the big city from the country in the hopes of earning his riches. Before long, he finds himself in the middle of a turf war between two opposing businesses thanks to his mastery of the martial arts. Things kinda escalate from there.
I’m usually not one for kung-fu numbers of this sort, but, regrettable title aside, this little ditty really does a great job of getting rid of all the things that usually bug me about these movies. No long, drawn-out training sequences leading up to the meat of the movie; no long stretches of forgettable dialogue constantly breaking up all the action; no corny English voice-overs; plus the fight choreography doesn’t come off as dated. This thing is chock-full of awesome kung-fu and, while the story is fine, that’s perfectly okay by me considering how well it does the one thing I tuned in for. Honestly, one of the better action movies I’ve seen on Netflix in some time.
It doesn’t have enough reviews to warrant a proper Tomatometer score, but you’re just gonna have to trust me on this one.
