In a time and place where everyone’s hungry and there’s no food to eat, an out-of-work clown takes a handyman job at one of the few buildings where stomachs are getting filled. Unfortunately for him, his neighbors are getting hungry and he’s next on the menu.
Definitely has a Sweeney Todd vibe about it, but this is one of those movies that kinda defies categorization and that’s all the more reason to recommend it. One of the most magical, imaginative, incredibly well-made movies I’ve ever laid eyes on, although that’s not exactly surprising considering it’s by guy who gave us Amelie. If you can get past reading the subtitles, you’ll be rewarded with one of the greats that’s quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen. What a movie, this one.
It’s got an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
