A deaf, mute author heads to her cabin in the woods to get some writing done and winds up fighting for her life when a masked murderer shows up at her doorstep.
Not the most original premise out there, but, holy crap, does it make up for it. Aside from being super intense and creepy as sin, this movie does everything right in terms of sidestepping every turn that you think it’s gonna take and subverting every infuriating horror trope that lesser movies can’t seem to avoid. If you love a good horror thriller and hate cliches, you owe it to yourself to check this one out. Why couldn’t The Strangers have been more like this?
It’s got a cool 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
