A documentary about a man who, at one point and time, changed the face of American cooking and became a downright culinary celebrity. Then, near the height of his fame, he up and disappeared off the face of the Earth, only to reemerge ages later to try his hand at saving a restaurant of legend.
You don’t have to eat at three-star restaurants or worship at the altar of Jeremiah to appreciate this one, but it probably does help if you appreciate some occasional food porn. I, for one, knew nothing about the guy going in and it ended up making for a pretty fascinating biopic about a guy who’s lived quite a life. Considering how flush with cooking shows Netflix continues to be, this one at least makes for a welcome addition.
It’s got an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.
