A documentary about two lifelong friends from Canada who started a hair metal band in the ’80s, were praised by their peers, but never made it to the big time. Decades later, married with children, and working 9-5 jobs, the two decide to launch a comeback tour in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, they’ll finally get their big break.

Alright, maybe it isn’t the most inspired premise for a rockumentary, but whatever, the end result is great and the formula continues to work. Doesn’t matter if you’ve never heard of Anvil, doesn’t matter if you could care less about metal. It’s hilarious, it’s entertaining as hell, it’ll put a lump in your throat, and it might just have you humming “Metal on Metal” for days on end. Easy recommendation.
It’s got a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.
