A punk band on the verge of disbanding lands one last gig at the end of their fledgling tour. Said gig ends up being at a skinhead bar in the middle of nowhere. They play their show, tensions are high, then they witness a woman getting murdered backstage. They lock themselves in (you guessed it) the green room, the skinheads want them out, so they put their heads together in an effort to get out alive.
[Rated R]
I freaking love this movie. This is one of my favorite movies of maybe the last five years. Don’t get me wrong, it’s brutal and the premise is pretty straightforward, but it’s also misleadingly straightforward thanks to a cast of unusually smart characters who drive the plot in fresh directions and can get killed off at any old time. Surprisingly likable considering the body count and subject matter, and the kickass performances don’t hurt, either (namely Sir Patrick Stewart as the chief skinhead and Anton Yelchin in one of his final roles). I could go on, wish more movies were this good, intense, and inventive, here’s to hoping.
It’s got a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Or how about another HORROR movie, one that’s actually scary?
Or maybe another THRILLER, one with a more inspired premise?
